The weather ... it's sick ... it has a fever. If it were a child, I'd take it to the doctor, 'cause somethin' just ain't right. And it's not that it's this hot here, it's this hot everywhere! I just don't even know where to go with this. I guess it's just something about which we can all gripe and about which we can do nothing.
So, I'll move on to a more pleasant subject. I found a fantastic LYS just 10 mins from my house. I knew it was there, I just didn't know how fabulous it was. I've taken two sets of friends there in the past week, and I, myself, have been there three times in the past 1-1/2 weeks. It's called The Fine Line Creative Arts Center, and they have just about every fabulous yarn you've ever read about and then some. Debbie Bliss, Katia, Elsabeth Lavold, Dalegarn, Manos del Uruguay, pardon my spelling, Henry's Attic, roving, pencil roving, Wildfoote, Regia, Southwest Trading Company, Euroflax, and some acid green silk that looked like it was plugged in. Catch me, I think I'm going to faint, 'cause there's even more than what I just listed. I was overwhelmed.
I haven't cleared their shelves yet, but I did make a couple of minor purchases during my visits. I decided that I wanted to make Sally Melville's Lots-of-Options top from The Knit Stitch. So, I picked up some Classic Elite Flash, which is a marled cotton. It's a springy blend of bright green, medium blue and creamy yellow. I'm really happy with the way it's knitting up despite the fact that I had to drop 3 needles sizes to get gauge.
I also bought some 2nd Time Cotton (KnitOne, CrochetToo), but I haven't pegged it for anything yet. If I'm happy about how the Lots-of-Options turns out, I may make another one; otherwise, I might make something for the kitchen or a different tank top.
Oh, yes, and I almost forgot. I finished Oregon Tote #7. I'm not terribly excited about how this one turned out. I used Cascade 220 for the first time, and while I like the color combinations, I am not liking the floppiness of the bag. The others I made with Wool of the Andes (Knitpicks) and/or Lamb's Pride (Brown Sheep) would stand on their own, this one collapses on itself like a sleepy puppy. So sad.

Oh my, Julie...I just picked myself up off of the floor after passing out as I read about all of the fine yarns in your new found yarn shop...yeah, baby!
Girl, it's HAWT here, too. This isn't right. I keep thinking about how people CHOOSE to live in places where it gets this hot every year, like Vegas or Arizona. Nope. Why would you choose to do this on purpose?? It makes no sense.
Your new yarn acquisitions are gorgeous!
Oooh, I'm so jealous. I wish I had a cool yarn shop so close to my house! Although, it might be dangerous because I'd probably be there every day!
That 2nd Time Cotton is gorgeous!! I love the color.
And, your Oregon Tote is so pretty. Maybe if you linning it would help with the floppiness?
Knitting-Nelly -- My thoughts exactly, re: lining the floppy bag. I'm thinking a trip to the fabric store is in order tomorrow.
And I love that 2nd Time Cotton color, too. Gotta decide what to do w/ it!!
I want to go!!! I was just looking at their web site, of course eyeing all of the lovely spinning things ;)
And btw, my first spun yarn isn't knittable because it's like ROPE. Hard to describe, I'll have to let you feel it. It's like some nasty rug yarn. But I made it with my own two hands, so it's got that handmade charm going for it. ;)
Thanks so much for telling us about Fine Line. It was so much fun. The yarn selection was amazing! I am going to have to go back that there when I am up that way!
Ohmigosh - all that yarn just 10 minutes away!!!! It sounds like you have a good start on your stash from this LYS....
Yes - lining the bag would probably help it's floppiness. At any rate, it sure looks cute. And I love the little jumper (a few entries back). So cute!
